Well last night shiela was at work at S&S and I was feely mopey.. so I got out the BabyBeat monitor (home dopler) and decided to try AGAIN to hear the baby's heartbeat. The company claims that expectant moms can hear the hb between 8 and 12 weeks.. but that it may take longer for fatties.. ok.. they didn't use that term. anyway.. i've been trying once or twice a week with no luck. Last night, on our 14 week mark, I finally heard it. It just jumped out.. clear as day! I was so excited, I dropped the monitor and got ultrasound goo on my tshirt. I tried again and found it quickly.. I then counted the beats over the period of a minute (it's hard to count that fast!) and came up with 164 bpm!
I sent a txt message to shiela saying "OMG.. I just heard the heartbeat!!!" She took a break at work and called me back a few minutes later.. I was so psyched!
When she got home, we took out the monitor and tried again. It took a bit, but again, it just jumped out when I got the wand in the right spot. Shiela jumped up and called her mom in tx.. waking her up.. too funny.

Oh my goodness!!!! I didn't mind being woke up AFTER 11 p.m. to hear that baby's heartbeat!!!! Didn't mind at all. It sure gave me something to brag about to Bryan when he came over today. Thank you gals for sharin' w/me. I just KNOW at every movement that child's gonna be watched, dopler-ed, patted, whatever the two of you can think to do - you'll do it!!! Okay, I'm outta here for tonight. Love you both!!!
