At 10AM, they had an opening and decided to call me in to my appointment early. Shiela wasn't supposed to arrive until 10:30.. so I had to call her and tell her to run! She made it up from Harvard in less than 10 minutes and hadn't even broken a sweat.. VERY impressive.
Anyway.. while we were waiting for her, Dr Mason and I talked about some general things like the quad screen and my blood pressure. When she asked if I had any concerns, I mentioned that I worry ALL the time that something will go wrong. So she made my day by saying that she'd do an ultrasound so that I could see the baby.. YAY!
I see an uncanny resemblance between our baby and the last airbender on avatar (see pics below).

*grin*.. how cute! His/her head is huge.. just like Mommy's! Here are some more pics:

That last one is a profile... it's clear as day, isn't it?
The good news is that the baby is looking great and we got to see him swim around a bit and even got to see his/her little arms waving at us! I couldn't get over the movement.. absolutely amazing! The little heart was beating away.. yay!
Dr Mason then mentioned something that just put both of us on cloud 9. It turns out that shiela's name will be on the birth certificate after all. When we started this whole ordeal, same-sex couples had to put "unknown" in the space for the father's name. I really didn't like that because it makes it sound like I got knocked up after a one night stand or something. Anywho.. since we're married now, shiela's name goes onto the birth cert. just like it would if a hetero couple used a donor -- the husband's name would go on the birth certificate.
What a wonderful day.
